CORED WIRE treatment of molten cast iron.
Use tomorrow’s technology to enhance your quality and efficiency today.

More and more foundries produce their nodular graphite cast iron and compacted graphite iron (CGI) by injecting CORED WIRE containing magnesium. Inoculation using special wires is increasingly carried out in the ladle or at casting devices.

ODERMATH – the CORED WIRE professionals. Benefit from our expertise.

ODERMATH continues to be a driving force behind the ongoing development of the CORED WIRE injection treatment. As a result, foundries have come to rely on ODERMATH’s expertise both in the production and use of CORED WIRES. To provide expert advice to our customers, we believe in constant onsite liaison which, in turn, enables us to feed back valuable information on customers’ needs into the development and improvement of our products. This two-way street is what we call a partnership for profit.

The CORED WIRE technology.
Adding value to your product.

The CORED WIRE treatment can be integrated into your existing plant, too, within the scope of ongoing investment. Consider the following five good reasons:

Versatility.

  • Combined desulphurization and Mg treatment of cupola iron with S = 0.05 – 0.15%.
  • Mg treatment of electrically molten iron with S = 0.01 – 0.03%.
  • Correction of residual magnesium values of iron in pouring furnace.
  • Combination of Mg treatment and inoculation in treatment or pouring ladle.
  • Inoculation of iron in pouring furnace.
  • Alloying in ladle or in pouring furnace.

Simplicity.

  • The ladle is moved under a lid.
  • The “wire length” and “injection speed” parameters have already been preselected.
  • The operator triggers an electronic pulse and the treatment starts up automatically.

Flexibility.
Each treatment is individually matched to:

  • Ladle filling quantity.
  • Treatment temperature.
  • Sulphur content of the base iron.

Integration.

  • A treatment station requires only a few square metres of space.
  • Minimum stocking costs for reserve coils (space for 1 coil approx. 1 m2).
  • No special ladles required.

Expandability.

  • Inoculation via second machine in treatment ladle.
  • Automatic execution of Mg treatment and inoculation via a special computer program (“process optimization”) which adapts to changing conditions.

Special requirements.
Turnkey wire injection plants.

Different plants may need specially designed wire injection systems. The considerable experience of ODERMATH in this field means that proven engineering designs can often be adapted to meet the most demanding situations. However where unique problems exist the ODERMATH engineers can be relied upon the provide technically and economically acceptable solutions as demonstrated in the following example:
